More than 100 sharps found in Newport in one day

Nearly 150 needles / sharps were found and collected from two parts of Newport during a volunteer litter pick on Saturday 11th January 2020.

The voluntary group (Pride of Pill) also found paraphernalia associated with drugs, such as wipes, spoons and packaging.

Concerns were raised about the risk to children in the local area who may play where the needles were found. The team were thankfully fully trained to deal with the appropriate removal of the sharps.
